- Dana L. Rasmussen, D.C.

"The Beauty of NET is that it can find, locate, and help dissipate an emotional abboration that might be causing a psychosomatic reaction."
-Dr. Wayne Braddock
(NET Video)

-Dr. Howard Cohn

"Emotions are normal and natural and fine, but if emotions get out of hand, if they come at the wrong time, in the wrong place, they can actually cause distress in our body."

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How long does it take to learn NET?

Everything you need to know to do basic NET is taught in the 2-day NET Basic seminar. Skill comes with time. In the beginning you may take 15 minutes to clear an NEC during an office visit. As your skill increases, it is possible to clear NECs in 3-5 minutes.

2. How many different seminars does NET have and what are they (what do they cover)?

See our seminar descriptions and schedules

3. Will I know all there is to know about NET if I take all the seminars NET offers?

NET is a dynamic and continuously evolving technique. As research is released and/or developed the clinical applications expand. However, the basic foundation and fundamentals of NET have, for the most part, remained the same since Dr. Walker developed the technique. As with any skill, your knowledge and expertise will continue to improve and expand as you practice and use the techniques that you have acquired in our seminars.

4. How do I explain NET to my patients; and are there any books available?

In addition to the patient's pages on this web site, we will be teaching you in our NET Basic seminar how to explain and bridge NET to your patients. We have various patient education brochures available to support you and your patients. There is also an audio tape available for your patients of an interview with Dr. Scott Walker by "The Health Detective." Also available is LouAnn Hall, Ph.D.'s book, "Good News for People Who Hurt..." which contains many case stories relevant from a patient's point of view. This book is very helpful in explaining the value of NET. Also, to expand your background with an explanation of how emotions work, we recommend as a starting place the following three books: "Shame and Pride" by Donald Nathanson, M.D. and "Molecules of Emotion" by Candice Pert, MD

5. Am I doing psychotherapy if I do NET?

NET treatment is not a substitute for psychological or psychiatric therapy. Patients who show a possible need for psychotherapy are referred to psychological or psychiatric professionals for evaluation and/or treatment. The correction of an NEC is a physiological phenomenon accomplished by qualified NET practitioners.

6. Who is qualified to attend NET seminars?

Practitioners with doctorate or master's level degrees in the healing arts.

7. Are CE credits given for any of the NET seminars?

At this time CE credits are not issued for any of the NET seminars. However, some state boards do accept a letter of attendance that outlines the hours and the curriculum. A letter of attendance will be issued to you upon your request.

8. What happens if I get back in my office and get stuck?

In addition to numerous support materials that are available to NET graduates, we have a technical support system just a phone call away. We encourage you to call us at our toll-free number (800-888-4638) with your questions. When we receive a technical call, we strive to answer your questions quickly and in as much detail as possible.

9. How do I find other NET practitioners?

Just email the NET Referral line for patients and practitioners at walkeroffice@netmindbody.com

10. Can my office assistant or spouse attend the seminars?

Most of the seminars are designed for practitioners only. In this way we can keep the focus of the lectures and workshops in a direction that will allow the practitioners to easily learn the material and return to their offices ready to help others. Presently, only one of our seminars (NET SUCCESS) allows for a NET graduate to bring a guest.

11. Do I have to know muscle testing in order to do NET?

It is not necessary to know muscle testing to learn NET. In the NET Basic seminar we do cover and teach the simple form of muscle testing that is used when doing the Neuro Emotional Technique®. It is helpful to have knowledge or experience in muscle testing, but not necessary.

12. What if the patient refuses NET treatment?

It is the patient's right to choose the treatment available with NET. We feel it is your obligation to make your patient aware that an emotional component may be affecting his/her health problems. The "Golden Rule" in NET is to always inform the patient and then respect and honor the patient's "free will."

13. Do you have educational videos for sale that teach the work?

No. The only way to learn the Neuro Emotional Technique® and all clinical applications is to attend a NET seminar.

14. Do you have research to support NET?

Yes. Recently the ONE Research Foundation (a non-profit health education, research and service organization) published the results of ground-breaking research substantiating the semantic response, which is one of NET's basic tools, with muscle testing. This monumental work was headed up by ONE's Director of Research, Daniel A. Monti, MD, and is titled "MUSCLE TEST COMPARISONS OF CONGRUENT AND INCONGRUENT SELF-REFERENTIAL STATEMENTS." The complete study is published in the prestigious and peer-reviewed journal, "Perceptual and Motor Skills," 1999, 88, 1019-1028.

Two other very exciting case studies relating to NET have also been published. One paper is titled, "Two cases of spinal manipulation performed while the patient contemplated an associated stress event: the effect of the manipulation/contemplation on serum cholesterol levels in hypercholesterolemic subjects," and the other is titled, "The Effects of Spinal Manipulation on the Intensity of Emotional Arousal in Phobic Subjects Exposed to a Threat Stimulus: A Randomized, Controlled, Double-Blind Clinical Trial." Both studies are authored by Net's 1999 Doctor of the Year, Kristopher B. Peterson, DC The first paper was published in "Chiropractic Technique," Vol. 7, No. 2, May 1995, and the other paper was published in "JMPT," Vol. 20, No. 9, November/December, 1997.

15. How long has NET been around? How did Dr. Walker come up with NET?

Follow this link to find out About Us.

16. What happens after a NET treatment?

Many times patients express immediate relief and report that they feel as if a "great weight" has been removed from their physical being. NET seeks to normalize a neurological imbalance which allows a change in physiology. After treatment, the patient's physiology will be strengthened, allowing enhanced gains in his/her overall return to health.

17. Who teaches NET?

NET seminars are presently taught by Dr. Scott Walker and/or Dr. Deborah Walker. Both are chiropractors with 40+ years combined experience.

18. Why should I incorporate the NET technique into my practice?

Negative emotions (conscious or unconscious) can manifest as an imbalance affecting your patients' physiology, resulting in ill health. NET is a simple, safe and effective methodology of finding and removing emotional blocks to your patients' health.

19. How many times does a patient require NET Treatment?

It depends. Some conditions require only one NET treatment; others require more. We have found that there are layers of emotional influence stored in the history of our body. As a practitioner, you are taught to test for NECs whenever you suspect an emotional component may be a factor.

20. Can you do NET on children? Is it safe?

Yes and yes. As with adults, we have found layers of emotional influence in children who exhibit health problems or conditions. We have found NET to be very safe and non-intrusive. Children are extremely responsive to the benefits of NET.
